January 2002 - February 2002

\January 25, 2002

The team attended the annual Thompson Speedway awards banquet to claim the hardware from the 2001 race season. We received the trophy for our 9th place finish in the overall season point standings. We then also received the "Hard Luck Award" which although no one ever wants to be receiving this award it did show that everyone noticed we just plain didn't have any luck last season. A third award was presented to John Jr. and that was the "True Value Mechanic Of The Year Award". This award is voted on by fellow competitors and it showed once again that the majority of the guys we compete with at Thompson on a weekly basis are real class acts both on and off the track. Thanks.

Work is fully underway preparing the cars for the upcoming race season. The older of the 2 cars which is primarily used for a back-up and show car is about 80% complete at this point and will be 100% very soon as it will be presented at Racerama 02 on March 1, 2, & 3 at the Eastern States Fairgrounds in Springfield, MA. The Primary car has just come back from BFR chassis after having extensive changes to the chassis and we are now in the process of tearing it down to sandblast and paint the chassis.

to Mix it up at Thompson!!

NASCAR Winston Cup Star Tony Stewart will compete at Thompson International Speedway on July 17, 2002.  Stewart will go head-to-head with Thompson’s own NASCAR Weekly Racing Series National Champion Ted Christopher.  During the Winston Cup Series trek to New England, Stewart will jump aboard another of Christopher’s Mystique Motorsports #13 Modifieds.  The two will fight for supremacy in equally prepared racecars in a good old fashion grudge match.
